Define the Process the Connection Will Support
A request for an API should explain its purpose. An internal application might need department information to route requests to the right approver. Identify the source, required fields, and how a department change should affect that workflow.
We clarify the requirement with process owners and IT. Documentation from the other application supports the technical review. Checking existing capabilities before agreeing scope shows which parts are covered and where an enhancement may be needed.
Agree Access and the Records to Exchange
Assign responsibility for the connection. The company identifies the receiving application, its owner, and the access rules. Also agree what should happen when a transmission fails or the receiving application cannot accept a record.
We coordinate technical requirements with the relevant application team. Connection details follow the environment and supported capabilities. Information shared should remain within the integration’s agreed purpose, with access checked before operational use.
Test Received Results and Interrupted Transfers
An API response alone does not show that the receiving application can use the information correctly. Check the format and intended business result. Include incomplete records, repeated transmissions, and interrupted connections in the discussion of expected behaviour.
We prepare tests with the relevant teams and review settings suited to the connection. Additional capabilities can be scoped as an enhancement with clear acceptance checks. After launch, changes to either application should be coordinated to maintain compatibility.
